Last month I took a tentative step into the NFT art world with a very small collection of chimp based art pieces. NFT art is a new venture for me so I was stoked to see that all 9 pieces sold out within just a few hours. You can see them here:
For my second drop, I am offering 18 brand new original pieces of art. Each one is very loosely based on a notorious anti-hero from film, TV or storybook. You can visit the collection over on Solsea here.
If you’re new to the NFT world or just curious to know more about it, these articles on Coinbase are very newbie friendly.
How To Buy Meerkatsu NFT artworks.
The actual process is simple. First, you need to get some cryptocurrency. There are many to choose from so you need to know that the platform we are currently using is Solsea and you’ll need to buy some SOL (the unit of currency in the Solana blockchain).
Buying digital currency is no different from visiting an online currency exchange website – Coinbase is a popular choice, but there are many others. The next stage is making sure you have a digital wallet to store your SOL and in this scenario we recommend Phantom. Finally, you visit our Collection page and buy the NFT artwork that you like.
Who owns the NFT artwork?
Technically, you’re buying a piece of digital data on the blockchain – the ‘token’ part of the Non-Fungible Token (NFT) – not the art itself. The entry on the blockchain is uniquely attributed to you as the purchaser and that bit of data cannot be disputed, erased or edited. As the buyer, you’ll be sent to a link where you can download the higher quality version of the file. Once acquired, you can show it off anywhere you like. You can print it out for yourself and hang it on your wall. You can sell the NFT too.
The copyright of the artwork still remains with the artist. Your NFT includes a license which details the rights included, but also, you can read more about it here.
Why the Solsea platform?
There are a number of big marketplaces that sell NFT art. We chose Solsea because it offers low gas fees and a user friendly interface for artists and art fans. Another positive benefit is that the Solana blockchain is reported to have a much lower carbon footprint than other blockchains such as Etherium (link).
Keeping Up To Date With New Collections
Telegram is the main place to interact with me and my team (White Basement NFT – who are a couple of my crypto-investor friends). If you add Telegram app to your phone (or desktop) search for Meerkatsu_NFTs. Here we’ll drop sneak previews and answer any questions you have.
I will also post on my usual channels: Facebook, Instagram and via my Email Subscriber list (see the homepage).
